Ratings Review: 2019 World Series (Nationals vs Astros)

For the third time in the last four years, the World Series went seven games, as the Washington Nationals  topped the Houston Astros, four games to three.

The ratings started out slow, averaging under 12 million viewers, for the first five games. that is more than a million viewers less than last year's first four games, which averaged over 13.2 million viewers. 2018 only went five games.

Game six jumped over five million viewers, from game five. Casual viewers were tuning in to see an Astros series winning clinch, but were disappointed by a late comeback by the Nationals. The win set a record as it was six straight wins by the road team, in the series. This had never happened before, in either the MLB, NHL or NBA.

Game seven, drawing over 23 million viewers, was 5.4 million viewers over the final game of 2018 (game 5), but was five million viewers less than game seven, in 2017. The Nationals completed the series, which all seven games were won by the road team.

The 2019 World Series averaged 13.91 million viewers, a  2.4 rating in Adults 18-34, a 3.3 rating in Adults 18-49 and a 4.2 rating in Adults 25-54.
