TOP 10: First to Be Cancelled in 2017-18 (Part 4)
Now that we are through the November sweeps, quite a few series are starting to fall by the wayside, mostly by running all of their ordered episodes, with no renewals.
10) KEVIN (PROBABLY) SAVES THE WORLD
ABC ordered three additional episodes, bringing the first season order to 16. The series will have 7-8 episodes still to air in 2018. It may be May before we know the fate of the freshman drama.
9) 9JKL
Surprisingly, CBS ordered three more episodes of the sitcom, bringing the first season total to 16. But, this could be a stop-gap measure until a mid-season replacement is ready to launch.
8) VALOR
The next nail in the coffin was hammered in when fellow freshman CW series, DYNASTY got a back-nine order and VALOR did not, despite both shows pulling similar basement level ratings. Episode 13 looks to run sometime in early 2018.
7) THE MAYOR
The comedy has yet to receive a back-nine order from ABC and will have just four episodes left, after the 2017 holiday season. THE MAYOR looks to be done in January, but critical reception of the series has been positive.
6) THE EXORCIST
The ratings are very low, and the end of the second season is scheduled for December 15. No renewal announced and just about anything else can do better in the time slot.
5) LAW & ORDER: TRUE CRIME
The anthology style series ended its eight-episode first season (THE MENENDEZ MURDERS) on November 14, averaging only about 4.5 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49. NBC has not stated if L&O:TC will return in 2018 with a second story, but the odds are very much against that happening.
4) THE TOY BOX (clinched)
The second season of the uultra-low rated series ended on November 19, after 8 episodes. I can't see ABC wanting more of this series after 16 hours of bad ratings.
3) MARVEL'S INHUMANS (clinched)
INHUMANS ran all eight of its episodes and ended quietly on November 10th. It may be the worst series of the year, in both ratings and quality of the production.
2) ME, MYSELF & I (up 3 spots - clinched)
CBS pulled the series from the schedule after the Oct. 30 airing and move up the season premiere of MAN WITH A PLAN for November 13. If/when the comedy returns, it will be in a dead time slot.
1) TEN DAYS IN THE VALLEY (up 2 spots - clinched)
Removed from Sundays, on October 26, and will begin airing on Saturdays on December 16.
