Primetime Cable Ratings: January 12, 2016

It was a very productive Tuesday night for Cable TV. A total of 51 program collected over one million viewers, 25 of those were over the 2 million viewer level. It took drawing over three million to be in the night's top 10 in viewership.

Politics were the big draw of the night, taking six of the top seven spots, mostly by FOX News. The STATE OF THE UNION address was behind all the ratings for CNN and FOX, and to a less extent, MSNBC. But 70+ minutes of the night was commercial free, for the actual speech by thePresident, and the Republican response.

FIXER UPPER was the program of choice by those that did not want to watch the address. The HGTV series collected 3.8 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in Adults 18-49. It was the #2 show overall, just 400,000 behind the top program.

ABC Family officially became FreeForm on the night and had two premieres, one veteran series season premiere and one new series premiere. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, at 8 PM, hauled in 2.3 million viewers and the night's best A18-49 ratings, with a 1.1 score. The shows top demo, Females 12-34, posted a 2.6 rating. At 9 PM, the new series, SHADOWHUNTERS, dropped about 20% of its lead in, keeping 1.8 million viewers, and lost nearly 30% of the demo, with a 0.8 rating.
