Amazon renews freshman series:
The Amazon original series, MOZART IN THE JUNGLE, has been renewed for a second season. Look for an early 2016 release date for the next season.
Netflix to spend big for programming:
The streaming entertainment service is reported to be committing $5 Billion on programming, for 2016. To put that in perspective, only ESPN spends more on programming, and the have the NFL, MLB, NCAA Football & Basketball, and much more.
Sling TV adds Epix movies:
Sling TV will start offering Epix Movie Channels to subscribers. This will cover all Epix channels, including about 2,000 on-demand movies and titles in the Epix library.
CBS joining NBC in the ring:
As part of a new deal with boxing manager Al Haymon, CBS will begin airing Saturday boxing matches. The first Premiere Boxing Champions event is April 4th, starting at noon, Pacific time. A second event is scheduled for May 9th, at 1:30 p.m. NBC recently agreed to aire matches of the PBC, starting in March
Amazon picks up five shows:
Amazon has ordered to series five series, including THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE (based on a Philip K. Dick book), MAD DOGS,s tarring Steve Zahn and Billy Zane, THE NEW YORKER PRESENTS docu-series, and the two kids series, JUST ADD MAGIC and THE STINKY & DIRTY SHOW.
Whoopi for primetime:
THE VIEW'S Whoopi Goldberg has been cast in the ABC pilot comedy DELORIS & JERMAINE. If picked up to series, Goldberg will pull double duty between the series and THE VEIW.
Comcast expands Live TV app:
The channel count for live programming on Comcast's TVE app has grown to 70. Recently added are AMC, BBC America, Showtime and The Weather Channel.
