Final Broadcast Ratings: February 15, 2015
The SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE 40th Anniversary Special dominated TV on Sunday night, commanding 23.1 million viewers and a 7.8 rating in Adults 18-49. The star studded night shut down all other programming, with perhaps exception of THE WALKING DEAD, on AMC. This is the best an NBC entertainment program has done, excluding post-Super Bowl episodes, since the WILL & GRACE finale, in 2006, in the A18-49 demo. It is the most viewers, sam restrictions, since ER in May '04. This one program should shoot NBC to the top of the weekly ratings.
The overshadowed season finale of CSI did little in the ratings, grabbing just 7.1 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating. Although noting official from CBS has been released, this could have been the final episode of the long running, hit series.
Also calling it quits was the failed sitcom MULANEY. It was rather fitting that it was the worst rated and least watched show of the night, and perhaps the week, from a big 4 network. To quote a classic SNL catchphrase, "Buh-Bye!"
ABC was really the only network to draw a respectable audience number against the SNL special. Three hours of THE BACHELOR programming averaged a 1.5 demo, while grabbing about six million viewers. A lot better than the usual RESURRECTION/REVENGE combo.
