Complete Nielsen Ratings: February 9 - 15, 2015
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #94:
The SNL 40th Anniversary Special was strong enough to propel NBC into First place, in the major demographic categories, but only into second place with mass audiences. The Sunday night event collected one of the most watched, regular series ratings, outside of a post-Super Bowl airing, in the last decade, with 23.1 million viewers and a 7.8 demo. Between it and the red carper special proceeding it, that represented every NBC program in the top 25. Only THE BLACKLIST is added to complete the network's top 30 representation. It was a good week for NBC, but a huge anniversary special only comes once a decade.
CBS was the #2 network, grabbing the most viewers and house holds, second in the A15-54 demographic, but third in the A18-49 demo. Led by NCIS (#2) and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (#3), CBS placed six shows in the top ten and a total of 18 into the top 30. Overshadowed was the possible series finale of the long running hit CSI, which only grabbed seven million viewers on Sunday night, against SNL. The series ushered in a new wave of crime dramas that led to CBS dominating the ratings over the next decade, or more.
ABC edged out FOX for the #3 spot, despite not having a top ten program for the week. The highest ranking ABC shows was MODERN FAMILY, at #15. ABC did manage six shows in the top 30, including all three Thursday night dramas.
FOX is doing well with EMPIRE and AMERICAN IDOL, all top 20 programs, but the rest of the lineup is struggling. Only two other programs managed to be in the top 50, GOTHAM and NASCAR, with everything else ranking 60th, or worse. The series finale of MULANEY was the third least watched program of the week, including the CW, just in front of a CW Friday night movie and REIGN.
With the delayed ratings this week, I didn't get to post a separate CW Weekly Ratings review. The averages were just slightly lower, with the demo's losing a tenth of a point, from last week. THE FLASH and ARROW are by far the class of the network, as the rest of the line up was mixed in, at the bottom, with three FOX shows.
