Top 10: Grossing Movies of 2014
Depending on how you look at 2014 at the movies, it was either a great year, with some of the best movies of all time. Marvel presented couple of its best stories with GUARDIANS OF THE CALAXY and the second CAPTAIN AMERICA movie. Families loved THE LEGO MOVIE, while Disney had a mega-hit with MALEFICENT.
On the other side, the box office numbers dropped over 5%, year to year, and attendance was off by more than 6%. The last two year, three movies made over $400 million, domestically, this year, not once came close to that total. In the box office, GUARDIANS and CAPTAIN AMERICA fall far short to THE AVENGERS and IRON MAN III.
Just one movie achieved the one Billion mark, worldwide, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. That is nearly $800 million made outside of the United States. Most big, worldwide movies generate more income out side of America, than inside America. But, we are still the single biggest market for movies.
