Preliminary Ratings: Thursday 12/04/14
PETER PAN LIVE! lead NBC to a nightly win in the A18-49 ratings, as the three hour event collected 9.1 million viewers and a 2.3 rating in Adults 18-49. Obviously, far better than the regular programming NBC places on the night, but way off from last year's live event, THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Year-to-year, NBC is down 9.5 million viewers and 50% in the A18-49 ratings. Yes, THE SOUND OF MUSIC commanded 18.6 million viewers and a 4.6 demo rating, in 2013.
ABC gave us the third season premiere of the cooking reality series, THE TASTE. And, like seasons past, the ratings are nothing close to being competitive. Just 3.3 million viewers and a o.9 demo, tuned in to the season opener. Compared to last year's season premiere, viewership and the demo are off by 31%. But, that premiere was after the new year, not early December.
CBS numbers will have a rather substantial change when final ratings are released, later today. the local CBS affiliates in both Chicago and Dallas preempted the network to air the Cowboys vs Bears game. Those impressive numbers will look become awful, come nightfall.
The only positive thing to say about FOX, on the night, are the gains it has from the last original episodes, two weeks earlier. Compared to the Nov. 20 episode, BONES is up over 700,000 in total viewership and rose 15% in the demo.
