Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 11/04/14
With CBS and the CW in repeats for election night coverage and local preemptions, FOX was the top network of Tuesday night, thanks to a relatively strong premiere of MASTERCHEF JUNIOR. The second season opener collected 5.1 million viewers and a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49. It was the #2 show of the night, in the A18-49 ratings, a half point behind THE VOICE. It is aslo a series high for the youngster cooking show, in both total viewers and in the demo.
NEW GIRL followed MASTERCHEF JUNIOR with its best ratings since the season premiere, with 3.4 million viewers and a 1.6 demo rating. It is also up 14% in the demo, from its last episode, back on October 14th. However, THE MINDY PROJECT did show gains, from its last outing (30% in the demo), but the ratings were so low that it makes a 1.3 demo rating actually look decent.
NBC's THE VOICE posted a season low 2.3 demo rating, along with 9.5 million total viewers. The low numbers can be mostly blamed on local preemptions for election coverage. With that, it was still the highest rated program in the A18-49 demographic. The two comedies followed suit with their lowest numbers of the season.
ABC was the #4 network, despite an all-original line up. SELFIE, which is just buying time until its run ends, drew the lowest A18-49 numbers of the night, from the Big 4, excluding election coverage. Even without local preemptions, the comedy would have pulled low numbers as it is not clicking with the viewing audience.
The Marvel 7th anniversary special was wasted on election night, covering for AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. It was 4th in viewership and tied for third in the demo, for the 9 p.m. hour.
