Complete Nielsen Ratings: October 6 - 12, 2014
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #94:
The final network numbers are not all out, yet, but the ratings are falling where they did last week. NBC and CBS battle for the top spots, in each category, with CBS taking total viewers and household, while NBC is king in the younger demographics. The two networks tie in the older demo ratings.
CBS pushed the most shows into the top 30, placing 16 shows, lead by the #1 drama, NCIS. All but one program, THE AMAZING RACE, placed in the top 40, with exception to the Saturday shows.
NBC's usual suspects made the top 30, again, this week. SNF (#2), THE VOICE (#9 and #26) and THE BLACKLIST (#20). Joining them were FNiA (#13) and THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA (28). Although it only has five of the top 30 programs in the A18-49 ratings chart, it still beat CBS by 0.2 points.
ABC's ratings look good, but it is a little deceiving. In the A18-49 ratings, it had the most shows in the top 30, with ten, but it tied FOX for third place with just a 1.8 rating. But, it is the only network without any NFL programming to help boost the numbers. Good or bad, sports, especially the NFL, is what it takes to get great ratings in today's network TV world. The ratings currently do not reflect any corrections ABC may receive, before October 10, 2014, when Nielsen disclosed an error with the reporting of Live+SD numbers. ABC was the major benefactor of inflated numbers because of the error.
FOX still looks bad. Its NFL numbers hide the dismal ratings a large majority of its schedule is pulling in. Its only two program in the top 30 are Football programming. THE SIMPSONS, at #38, is the next highest ranked program from the network. At some point FOX will need to get and implement a plan of how to dig itself out of this ratings hole.
The CW had a nice week as it rolls out more of its 2014 fall programs. THE FLASH is an instant hit for the network. it ranked 32nd in the A18-49 chart and 56th in total viewers. It has been a while since the CW has had success like this.
* Revised - ABC drops to just six top 30 shows, in total viewers and nine in the A18-49 ratings. It averages dropped from 7.20 million viewers to just 7.08 million, but the A18-49 numbers held steady at a 1.8 rating. With the changes, THE FLASH is now a top 30 program in the A18-49 ratings, at #30.
