Ratings Review: THE MILLERS
THE MILLERS was one of my more anticipated new series for the 2013-14 season. It had a great lead cast, in the three main characters. But, the writing is more typical sitcom than innovative comedy.
The raw number for THE MILLERS does look good. It usually gets more than 10 million viewers and a mid to high two rating in Adults 18-49. But, the retention rate out of THE BIG BANG THEORY is not all that good. On average, it keeps roughly 60% of the audience from BIG BANG. That number will need to get better if THE MILLERS want more than two seasons.
The lack of data for any ratings after the initial day of airing, indicates to me that most viewers of the series are just sticking around after THE BIG BANG THEORY. They are not huge fans of THE MILLERS. Getting just 1.5 million more viewers is not a strong number, for LIVE+7.
For the season, THE MILLERS averaged 10.2 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 28 airings, including the five repeat episodes. Season two of THE MILLERS will be delayed until late October, to make room for the seven game package of THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, on CBS.
