Primetime Cable Ratings: February 9, 2014

What is bigger than The Winter Olympics? ZOMBIES!

The return of THE WALKING DEAD was the #1 TV program on TV Sunday night, in Adults 18-49. The horror drama registered an 8.2 rating in the demographic, out pacing the primetime coverage of the winter games, on NBC, by more than a full ratings point. Roughly two-thirds of the 15.8 million viewers are within the A18-49 demographic.

Compared to the 4th season premiere, last October, viewership was down by just2% and the demo rating was even. A good sign that viewers were pleased with the first half of the season.

What are your thought on Sunday's episode?

TALKING DEAD, which immediately followed, improved it's numbers from the fall premiere. the 5.9 million viewers and 3.0 demo rating are up by 15%. Those numbers are also nearly even with the Fall Finale, in late November.

The two primetime encore episodes of THE WALKING DEAD made the top five, giving the franchise and AMC four of the top five cable programs of the night.
