Weekly Twitter TV Ratings: Feb 3 - 9 2014
The Nielsen Twitter TV ratings do not include the 2014 Winter Olympics, as it is a sporting event, not a "TV program." So, that leaves THE WALKING DEAD as the #1 TV program on Twitter. The mid-season premiere collected nearly 7.5 million unique twitter accounts that received at least one tweet about the episode. Over 1.2 million tweets were shared by 526,000 unique authors. it was, by far, the most active program in social media last week.
Over two million unique accounts behind was Grammy Salute to The Beatles arrival in America, and appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Considering that The Olympics and THE WALKING DEAD were airing at the same time, the audience numbers are quite strong. But, when you look at the number of unique authors and total tweets, there may have been a lot of crossover audiences with THE WALKING DEAD.
Jay Leno's second good-bye from THE TONIGHT SHOW was a much tweeted event. The late night program was not far off from three million unique accounts. The TV ratings were the best in nearly 15 years. I think viewers just want to make sure Jay STAYS retired this time...
