Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 7, 2014
CBS was the top series NBC was the most watched show and the new series INTELLIGENCE got a very good sampling.
The new CBS crime drama INTELLIGENCE got a special premiere, following the most watched series on TV, NCIS. The program drew 16.5 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. Vewry similar numbers to what NCIS: LA gets after a new episode of NCIS. The real test for the series will come Monday when INTELLIGENCE settles in it's regular time slot, at 10 p.m., going head to head with THE BLACK LIST and CASTLE.
NCIS posted it's first 20+ million viewer episode since the season premiere and becoming the most watched episode of the season, with 20.8 million viewers. The series shows no signs of slowing down and with a possible spin-off in the works, viewers could be getting even more NCIS each week.
ABC fell flat with it's all original Tuesday line up. AGENTS OF SHIELD was a distant 2nd place in both viewers and younger demographics. The two comedies fell to 4th place in the A18-49 ratings and the new series KILLER WOMEN had about as much success as LUCKY 7 did in the time slot. I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing encores fill the 10 p.m. slot again?
The FOX comedies pulling in ratings similar to what they had been before the holidays. It a small, but young audience that has potential, but it will not be a huge night for the network. We'll see how B99 and NEW GIRL do with their post-Super bowl airings and if that can infuse new viewers to the night, for FOX.
NBC performed decently on the night. THE BIGGEST LOSER was the #3 show in it's time slot, but CHICAGO FIRE held it's own, in the A18-49 ratings, against PERSON OF INTEREST. Both dramas collected a 2.0 rating in the demographic numbers.
