Primetime Cable Ratings: January 22, 2014

The new A&E reality series WAHLBURGERS, featuring the actors Danny and Mark Wahlburg, received a decent size sampling on Wednesday night, grabbing just under 3.3 million viewers, at 10:30 p.m. That is roughly half the audience from what DUCK DYNASTY delivered during the top of the same hour. Not a great retention rate, but getting over three million viewers for a cable premiere is still a good number. We'll see if WALBURGERS is just a product of scheduling or the next hit show from A&E.

Speaking of DUCK DYNASTY, week two of season five took a bit of a hit, losing nearly two million viewers from the premiere. It is still the strongest cable series on the air now, but it is beginning to look as if the excitement and popularity peaked last fall.

The DIscovery scripted miniseries KLONDIKE closed out with a lackluster 2.9 million viewers. This third and final installment was the lowest rated of the three. The project was not a flop, but compared to comparable cable miniseries, like HATFIELDS & MCCOYS and THE BIBLE, the numbers are a bit of a disapointment.
