Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 4, 2013

It was a rare Wednesday night win the the A18-49 ratings for NBC as its two christmas specials out performed an all original line up from ABC and a mostly encore schedule from CBS.

CHRISTMAS IN ROCKEFELLER CENTER made huge gains, year-to-year, as the annual special drew just under 9.8 million viewers and a 2.3 demo rating. That is a 10% jump from the 2012 event and  pushed NBC to 2nd place in the 8 p.m. hour.

Following the special on NBC, was a two hour SNL special featuring the best Christmas sketches. SNL CHRISTMAS averaged 7.4 million viewers and a 2.6 rating in Adults 18-49, winning both the 9 and 10 p.m. time slots.

Over on CBS, SURVIVOR grew it's biggest audience of the season, as the heavily hyped episode collected 10.6 million viewers and a solid 2.6 demo rating. It was the most watched program on the night and won it's hour in the A18-49 ratings.

ARROW had it's most watched episode since last winter when over 3.2 million viewers and tuned in to see Dr. Barry Allen make his first appearance in the series. Barry Allen is the secret identity of the superhero Flash. The CW may spin off the character into it's own series for next season.

Things were not so rosy for ABC. For the nigh as a whole, it could not out perform CBS, even though CRIMINAL MIND and CSI were in repeat mode. MODERN FAMILY was the top rated show of the night, in the A18-49 ratings, with a 3.2 mark, but it is the lowest rating for an original episode this season. The shine seems to have come off the fifth year comedy as the ratings have slowly dropped. Only once this season has the series increased it's demo rating from a previous original episode.

CBS - 9.0 million viewers, 1.9 rating in Adults 18-49

CW - 2.5 million viewers, 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49

FOX - 5.4 million viewers, 1.4 rating in Adults 18-49

NBC - 8.2 million viewers, 2.5 rating in Adults 18-49
