Ratings Review: ABC Wednesdays - November Sweeps

It is kind of hard to get a real assessment of the ABC Wednesday line up, during the Novemeber sweeps, as each of the five series only aired two original episodes. ABC preempted the entire three hours the first Wednesday of the period with the 47th annual CMA Awards. That special drew just under 16.8 million viewers and a strong 4.7 rating in Adults 18-49. It is one of the networks strongest nights of the season.

The next two week is when the regular line up was in original episodes. All four sitcoms saw losses from one week to the other. NASHVILLE saw an increase in both viewership and demo ratings

The last Wednesday of the sweeps period was the day before Thanksgiving, so ABC chose to air repeats for the night, including a special LAST MAN STANDING taking the 8:30 p.m. time slot.

The Sweeps average for each show is only for the two original episodes, in week's two and three. The night is getting weaker for ABC. Neither new comedy will make it past this coming May. BACK IN THE GAME is already gone after it's 13 episode commitment is completed.
