Ratings Review: ABC Thursdays - November Sweeps
It is still pretty amazing that SCANDAL is ABC's #1 show on Thursday nights. Now in its third season, the series barely made it out of it's fist season, which consisted of just 7 episodes. By the time it ended it's second season, SCANDAL was on track to be the #1 drama at 10 p.m., on thursday nights.
Each of the four weeks, SCANDAL has topped GREY'S ANATOMY, especially in the A18-49 demographic ratings. It is now the network's #1 drama, at any time period., in the demo ratings.
As for GREY'S ANATOMY, the end is getting near. The numbers continue to slip and it may be just a matter of time before the once hit drama begins losing to the CBS comedies, in the A18-49 numbers. ABC has too many other problems to cut GA from the 2014-15 schedule, so fans will have at least one more season. but, it may be time to move the series and gel out another night, much like CSI has done for Wednesdays, on CBS.
ONCE UPON A TIME is yet another disaster for ABC this season. Low ratings started for the series right from the premiere and only get worse with each week. Burn-off should begin soon as the series in not on the ABC mid-season schedule. I wonder if it could have been better off following the parent series and giving fans two full hours, on Sundays, to escape to a fantasy land.
ABC aired the classic Halloween special THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, on Halloween night. The special drew 7 million viewers a solid 2.2 rating in Adults 18-49. So far, this is the best ratings the 8 p.m. slot has earned for ABC.
