Ratings Review: ABC Fridays - November Sweeps

LAST MAN STANDING is a perfect show to kick off Friday nights. It has appeal to both older and younger viewers and can deliver a decent size audience to the next program. It consistently draws over six million viewers and a about a mid one rating in Adults 18-49. It did take a hit when BONES moved over to compete in the time slot, but it should still deliver the ratings at 8 p.m.

The same can not be said for the THE NEIGHBORS. It consistently losses 30-40 percent of it's lead in audience and is one of the worse performing series on the network. Even on Friday nights, if your demo rating is below a 1.0, you need to be moved to Saturday nights. If ABC could find a companion sitcom for LAST MAN STANDING, it would dominate the night.

SHARK TANK showed why it is the #1 show in the A18-49 ratings. It produces a 1.7 to 2.0 rating in Adults 18-49, almost every week. It usually has a 20% lead over the next closest program on the night. If it had a better lead in, who knows what it could do in the ratings.

20/20 is like most news programs, where ratings are dependent on the stories each week. Over the month, the veteran news program swing viewership by nearly two million. So far, the A18-49 ratings have been somewhat stable, around a mid-one rating. It is cheap to produce and does what it need in the hour for ABC.
