Ratings Review: ABC Thursdays - First 4 Weeks

ABC has staggered its Thursday night premires over the first three weeks of the season, but we have already gotten the trends for ABC on the night.

Kicking off the night is the last show to premiere, ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND, and is already among the leaders to be cancelled next. The series had a soft debut, drawing less than 6 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in Adults 18-49. Week two saw a drop of near 30% in the demo ratings. It is doing no better than the repeat programming ABC scheduled in the time slot, before the series premiered. The best case scenario for OUATiW is to be psired with the parent series, but I am not convincef the network would want to move REVENGE to accommodate thst.

At 9 p.m., the veteran drama GREY'S ANATOMY is still a solid ratings performer, despite its advanced age. It is winning the hour in the A18-49 ratings, holding off the CBS comedies. But, its days are gone as being the flagship series of the network. It is now the #2 series on the night with the surge by SCANDAL in the ratings.

SCANDAL has passed GREY'S in both total viewers and in the A18-49 ratings.  It, along with NBC's THE BLACKLIST, are the only two 10 p.m. programs to consistently grab a 3.0 demo rating. SCANDAL is one of the few bright spots on ABC, in a season of massive misses by the network.
