Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 7, 2013
The CW is having its premiere week, two weeks after everyone else, and the Monday series are not doing great numbers, although they are slightly better than last year's. Just under a one million viewer average is slightly better than the 2012 combination of 90210 and GOSSIP GIRL. But, Mondays may have a tough time topping Friday's CW ratings to keep out of the network cellar.
What used to be a great night of comedy, CBS is now, officially, a fourth place network. With exception of the 8 to 8:30 p.m. time slot, CBS only has The CW in its rearview mirror. The problem is not with the new programs, but with not having programs that viewers want to watch Live/Same Day. The must watch now of DWTS and THE VOICE have taken their toll on the comedies.
Something, very soon or before the November sweeps, will be done with the Monday schedule, by CBS brass. The 10 p.m. slot is tanking and affiliates will not stand for such a weak lead into their local newscast. MIKE & MOLLY could see an early return to the schedule, but it will not make a dramatic affect on the ratings from 8 to 10 p.m.
Week three of THE BLACKLIST confirms its standing as this year's first new hit series. It is practically even with last week's numbers. The series also gets great DVR ratings as LIVE+3 numbers have boosted the series audience by double digit percentages.
Already confirmed for a second season in 2014, SLEEPY HOLLOW has also been doing very well. It is consistently in 2nd place in the A18-49 ratings, beating the CBS comedies and the second hour of DWTS. But, the numbers have yet to level off. It is down about 25%, in the demo ratings, from its series premiere, three weeks earlier.
