Primetime Cable Ratings: October 13, 2013

Just how big is THE WALKING DEAD? It almost beat the second highest rated Sunday Night NFL game of the season, in the A18-49 ratings. NBC's game drew an 8.4 demo rating, TWD was just 0.2 behind it. To put it into perspective, last year's season premiere drew 10.9 million viewers and a 5.8 demo rating. The 2013 premiere jumped up 5.2 million viewers, or 48%, and the A18-49 rating rose 41%.

The domination did not stop there. Two encore episodes that lead up to the premiere, made the top five, with the 8:00 p.m. episode getting 5.7 million viewers. The fan boy gab fest series TALKING DEAD that followed, drew five million viewers and a strong 2.6 demo rating. The 11 p.m. re-airing of the premiere drew another 2.7 million viewers. The only thing bigger than THE WALKING DEAD would be a crossover episode between THE BIG BANG THEORY and THE WALKING DEAD.

Picking up the scraps were reality series KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS and REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ, finishing in 6th and 10th, respectively. The only other program over three million viewers was Disney's GOOD LUCK CHARLEY.
