2013 Commercial Cost Survey: FOX
AdWeek has released the 2013 fall commercial cost survey, detailing the average cost of one network commercial spot for each of the shows from this season's fall schedule. Here is a look at the FOX commercial chart.
It is a down year for FOX. Just about every returning series charges less in 2013 than it did during the fall of 2012. It cash cow, THE X FACTOR/AMERICAN IDOL saw huge price drops as the ratings have free fallen over the last couple of seasons. THE X FACTOR dropped about $100,000 per spot this fall, and even though it was not reported, expect similar price cuts from IDOL in the spring.
As you look at the FOX chart, they only have two original shows that are $100k. That shows the perceived strength in younger demographics by the network, over a general larger viewership. But, you have got to believe make goods or price cuts are being made as the Tuesday comedies and THE X FACTOR are not doing well this season.
Not included in this survey are the Saturday football games, the Friday comedy RAISING HOPE and the new sic-fi series ALMOST HUMAN.
