Ratings: Broadcast Finals for September 22, 2013

It was a high rated battle between NBC and CBS to grab the last night of the 2012-13 TV season. The two networks split the night, with CBS drawing in the most viewers (19.7) and NBC posting the best A18-49 mark (6.4).

Football was a big factor for both NBC and CBS. The late NFL game overrun on CBS drew 25.6 million viewers for the first hour of primetime. It was the #1 show of the evening, in both measured categories. The SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game was the #2 program, drawing 20.5 million viewers and a 7.7 demo rating over three hours. It was the three hours of the NFL that pushed NBC to the top in the A18-49 ratings on the night.

CBS followed its NFL game with three hours of the Primetime Emmy Awards. Hollywood's night to pat itself on the back for the small screen stars drew 17.8 million viewers and a 4.9 rating in Adults 18-49. That is a 33% jump on viewership and growth of 26% in the demo ratings from the 2012 telecast. This was EMMY's best ratings since 2005, before SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL aired on NBC.
