Daily Top 10 Primetime Cable Programs: June 23, 2013
Nik Wallenda Captured america on Sunday night. Not only did his high-wire act rule the night on cable, it ruled the night for all TV. The actual stunt of walking across the Little Colorado Gorge drew 10.7 million viewers and a 3.6 rating in Adults 19-49. That is more than any other program of the night, including the four broadcast networks. Even the "pre-wlak" coverage at 8 p.m. did better than the BIG 4 networks.
MAD MEN closed out another season, collecting 2.7 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating. The period drama has a small, niche audience that AMC enjoys having. But when you compare the ratings to THE WALKING DEAD and BREAKING BAD, or even the underdog series HELL ON WHEELS, MAD MEN is not the popular series everyone makes it out to be. It is a quality niche program.
