Ratings Review: THE BIBLE
For the second strait year, History produces one of the most watched and talked bout scripted programs of the season. Last year it was the mini-series THE HATFIELD & MCCOYS. In 2013, it is THE BIBLE.
The series was a telling of the more popular stories of the Bible, plus a complete telling of the story of Jesus, based of the text and writing in The Bible. It did take some dramatic licensing in some scenes or events, but it was a spiritual telling of the world most published book.
I watched all 10 hours of the series, eight of which were live on Sunday nights. It was one of the best "mini-series" produced for television. It ranks up there with THE HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, THE KENNEDYS and classics like SHOGUN.
Over the course of five Sunday nights, and 10 hours, THE BIBLE averaged 11.4 million viewers and a solid 2.9 rating in Adults 18-49. Two of the five episodes drew more viewers than the wildly popular THE WALKING DEAD.
