Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 6, 2013
It was almost a full slate of original programing from all four networks and FOX easily wins the night on the power of the NFC Wild Card game overrun and the pumped up ratings of the Animation Block that followed. The fore 'toons drew an average of 7.1 million viewers and a demo rating of 3.4.
NBC started the night slow with DATELINE pulling in under 6 million viewers, but the time off from a fall cycle helped THE BIGGEST LOSER post some of its best numbers in over a year. The two hour season premiere drew a 3.0 demo rating over the full two hours.
ABC started the night with an Encore of ONCE UPON A TIME, but the new episode at 8:00 p.m. did well pulling in 9.1 million viewers and a 3.1 demo rating. However. it was all downhill from there. REVENGE lost 22% of the audience and demo, then the two "comedies" through away almost everything else during the 10:00 p.m. hour. Why ABC even renewed HAPPY ENDINGS and APT. 23, let alone schedule them on a Sunday night, is beyond me. Both shows should be banished to Saturday nights, ASAP!
The CBS ratings actually look good, since it didn't have to worry about a Football overrun pushing all the shows back 45 minutes. Even THE GOOD WIFE pulled respectable numbers, against some tough competition.
