Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 20, 2012

Despite it being December 20th, it is rare the FOX wins a Thursday night, but the two hour season finale did just that. The second year talent program pulled in 9.66 million viewers and a 3.1 rating in Adults 18-49. Only a repeat of THE BIG BANG THEORY pulled in more viewers.

NBC greatly improved its 8:00 p.m. hour with the holiday special A WHITE HOUSE CHRISTMAS. viewership (8.3 million) was more than double what the comedies pull in and the demo rating (1.6) was about 50% greater. But, that good lead in was lost on the comedy encores at 9:00 p.m. and ROCK CENTER at 10:00 p.m., dropping 65% and more as the evening progressed.

ABC did give us 3 hours of holiday programming, but viewers didn't really respond. I WANT A DOG FOR CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN was 4th in its time slot in both viewers and the demo ratings.  CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS finished 3rd in the 9:00 p.m. hour, but did lead a non competitive 10:00pm. Both are acceptable holiday filler, five days before Christmas, but drama encores may have pulled in about the same numbers.
