Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 5, 2012

SURVIVOR won the 8:00pm hour with a 2.9 rating in Adults 18-49 and 10.6 million viewers. Theses were the best demo numbers for the series since October 3rd and the best viewer numbers since the season premiere, back in mid-September. It had been a down season, ratings-wise, for the veteran competition series, but with the last couple of weeks trending up, it could be a good ratings number for the finale and reunion.

Quietly, THE X-FACTOR won the night for FOX in the A18-49 demographic ratings. the 2.8 average edged out CBS' 2.4 and ABC's 2.2. THE X-FACTOR may not be a "Must See" program, but with as horrible of a fall FOX has had, it is the one consistent the network has had. Without it, the weekly numbers would look MUCH worse.

NBC's patients may be starting to pay off. CHICAGO FIRE not only took the 10:00 p.m. hour, but it grew from its LAW & ORDER: SVU lead in by 17% in viewers and 19% in the demo ratings. It grew 1.7 million viewers and 0.5 demo rating from its last episode, two weeks earlier. Of course, it didn't have to compete with CSI this week, but if the increased viewers that sampled the program stick, CBS may have found something positive in yet another down year for its scripted programs.
