Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 4, 2012
CBS takes Tuesday night on the strength of a 48 year old TV special, The only repeat program of the evening and Hot girls in almost no clothes.
RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE REINDEER drew 10 million viewers and a 2.9 demo rating at 8:00 p.m. It was off by about 2.5 million viewers and down 28% in the demo, but the special did air a full week earlier in 2011, coming right off the Thanksgiving weekend.
A repeat of NCIS aired at 9:00 p.m. and grew 10% in viewers from RUDOLPH, and was just nipped by NBC in the demo ratings, by a 0.05 ratings point. I would say that is the power of the #1 drama on TV, but it is also a testament to just how weak the comedies are on NBC, ABC and FOX.
The top program of the night, in A18-49 ratings, was the yearly special of THE VITORIA SECRETS FASHION SHOW. It pulled a 3.6 rating, topping THE VOICE, which aired two hour earlier. Like RUDOLPH, The VSFS was stronger a year before when it drew 1 million more viewers and 28% more in the demo. It too aired a week earlier in 2011.
The only other bright spots of the night were the previously mention THE VOICE (11.5 million viewers, 3.5 demo) and GO ON (2.4 demo rating, #4 on the night), both on NBC, and FOX's NEW GIRL (growth of 58% in viewers from its lead in). Nothing else was able to crack a 2.0 demo rating or generate more than 5 million viewers. The only exception was SHARK TANK at 6.9 million viewers.
