Ratings Review: THE X-FACTOR

One of the most hyped new programs for the 2011-12 season was THE X-FACTOR. Simon, FOX and the industry was expecting it to be the next AMERICAN IDOL. In reality, THE X-FACTOR was a above average TV hit.

For the most part, those that watched the series premiere of the new talent competition series stayed with the series all season. It's Adult 18-49 demo ratings only dropped about 15%  - 20%, but averaged around a 3.7 for the season. Among the best of any new program for the 2011-12 season.

Had FOX and Simon not hyped the series as the biggest thing on TV in ten years, they would have been able to truly celebrate the success of THE X-FACTOR as the top of the freshmen crop.
