Primetime Cable Ratings: October 23, 2016

THE WALKING DEAD pulls its second best rating ever, with the season 7 premiere of the hit AMC series. Over 17 million viewers and a 8.4 rating in Adults 18-49, tuned into the much anticipated episode. TWD out rated SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, by 40%, in the A18-49 demographic. The episode fell short of the season 5 opener, which drew 7.3 million viewers and a 8.7 demo.

Following TWD was the 90-minute episode of TALKING DEAD, which featured the entire main cast of the series, plus the show creators. TALKING collected 7.6 million viewers and a 3.7 rating in Adults 18-49. Only Football and TWD did better in the key demographic.

Outside of Zombieland, Alaska was big, as the two Discovery series, ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER and EDGE OF ALASKA take the #3 and #4 spots, averaging 2.3 million viewers from 9 to 11 PM.
