Ratings Review: GAME OF THRONES (Season Four)
GAME OF THRONES has become cable TV's second most popular series, behind THE WALKING DEAD. Not bad for a network that is in only 33+ million homes. But the high quality of recent series from the networks overcome the limitations of the potential audience.
For most of the season, GAME OF THRONES would set a new series record for all-time ratings. Some of the best numbers HBO would record since the end of THE SOPRANOS. The series is so popular, it reportedly also sets all time illegal downloads of each episode, just after the initial airing.
For the 10 episode season, GAME OF THRONES averaged 6.75 million viewers and a 3.7 rating in Adults 18-49. HBO has not only renewed GAME OF THRONES for a 5th season, in 2015, but a sixth season for 2016.
