Ratings Review: ELEMENTARY

Overall, it was a down year for new series. Just a couple dramas showed promise, based on the ratings. But, somehow, CBS thought ELEMENTARY earned a second season. I am not sure if I agree.

After the series premiere in September, the series quickly fell to its normal spot in the ratings. About 10 million viewers and a low two in the A18-49 ratings. Occasionally, we would see a spike up to a mid-two in the demo, but it would quickly go back down to its comfort zone. ELEMENTARY had better do better than just "OK" in season two, because CBS has higher standards and there are to few spots to be wasted on an "average" series.

For the season, ELEMENTARY averaged 9.98 million viewers and a 2.1 rating in Adults 18-49, over its 30 airings, including 7 encore episodes. The one saving grace for ELEMENTARY for 2013 is having a hit sitcom (TWO AND A HALF MEN) leading into it.
