The new TV season is finally hear and it was NBC for the first win of the season. The network averaged 9.8 million viewers and a 2.1 rating in Adults 18-49. THE VOICE scored 9.6 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in Adults 18-49, from 8 to 10 PM. That is down one million viewers and over 20% in the demo, from last year's premiere. new drama MANIFEST. won the 10 PM hour, with 10.3 million viewers and a 2.2 demographic rating, growing 10% in the demo and 700k in total viewers, from THE VOICE lead in. That is nearly double what THE BRAVE hauled in, one year ago.
CBS was second on the night, with THE BIG BANG THEORY and YOUNG SHELDON kicking of the season for the network. TBBT started the night off with 12.7 million viewers and a 2.4 demographic rating, while YOUNG SHELDON held onto 10.6 million of those viewers and 1.7 in the demo. That is a significant drop from last year's premiere, where TBBT drew 17.7 million viewers and a 4.1 demo and YOUNG SHELDON premiered with 17.2 million viewers and a 3.8 demo rating. At 9 PM, new action series, MAGNUM PI was third in the hour, with 8.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in the key demo. Relocated BULL was last in the 10 PM hour, with just 7.3 million viewers and a 0.9 demographic rating. CBS averaged a 1.4 demographic rating and 9.7 million viewers.
DANCING WITH THE STARS kicked off another season, ranking fourth over the 8 to 10 PM time slot, with 8.1 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating.Like everything else, that was down from last year's premiere by 600k in viewers and 20% in the demo. THE GOOD DOCTOR was not so good, placing second in the final hour of the night, with 7.8 million viewers and a 1.4 demo rating. The sophomore drama lost 3.4 million viewers and over 33% in the demo, year-to-year. ABC averaged eight million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49.
The FOX medical drama, THE RESIDENT was fourth in the 8 PM hour, grabbing 4.9 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in Adults 18-49. Hit drama, 9-1-1, grew 1.7 million viewers and a half a point in the demo, from the lead in, but was off by nearly two million viewers 0.7 of a point, from the previous night, part one premiere. For the night, FOX averaged 5.7 million viewers and a 1.4 demo rating.
The CW will start its season in a couple of weeks, but did give us a new PENN & TELLER: FOOL US, with 900k in viewership and a 0.2 rating in Adults 18-49. A new WHOSE LINE? held onto 700,000 viewers, at 9 PM, and all of the demo. A second encore episode of WHOSE LINE was mostly flat from its lead in, bringing the CW average to just over 700,000 total viewers and a 0.2 rating in Adults 18-49.
