Final Broadcast Ratings: September 25, 2017
The 2017-18 TV season is here as eight shows had their season/series premieres. ABC, NBC and CBS battled it out for the win on the first night of the season, while FOX closed out low rated SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and The CW still in encores.
CBS was the #1 network of the night, drawing the most viewers and posting the top averages in the A18-49 and A25-54 demographics. NBC ruled the younger A18-34 demo, while ABC was right there in the race.
At 8 PM, THE BIG BANG THEORY and new comedy, YOUNG SHELDON, was #1 in the hour, averaging 17.7 million viewers and a solid 4.1 rating in Adults 18-49. That is up 1.9 viewers from last year's TBBT premiere and 10% in the A18-49 demographic. KEVIN CAN WAIT premiered down about 10% from last year's series premiere. New sitcom, ME, MYSELF & I saw a considerable drop from its lead in, losing over 25% in total viewership and in the demographic rating. SCORPION looked the worst for CBS, coming in third place in the 10 PM hour, down 33% in the A18-49 demo, from its 2016 premiere.
THE VOICE premiere, on NBC, took a hit, losing 1.5 million viewers and 22% in the demo, from last year's season premiere. New military series, THE BRAVE lost about 50% of its lead in viewership, worse than THE GOOD PLACE premiere, one year ago.
For ABC, DANCING WITH THE STARS kicked off its season last week and ranked third in its 8 to 10 PM time slot. But, new medical drama, THE GOOD DOCTOR scored big, winning the 10 PM hour with 11.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in Adults 18-49. It grew from its lead in by 2.5 million viewers and 57% in the A18-49 demo.
