With a primetime NFL Playoff game and the Golden Globe Awards, NBC sweeps the first weekly rating of 2018. The Saturday night Wildcard game ranked second on the week, drawing 22.8 million viewers and a 7.0 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down from last year's game, by over 4 million viewers and 17% in the demo. The Golden Globes was #3 on the week, taking in 19 million viewers and a 5.0 demo rating. It was mostly even from the 2017 event. In total, NBC had nine shows in the top 30, including two editions of the new game show, ELLEN'S GAME OF GAMES, ranking 14th and 15th.
FOX took second place, with an hour of NFL Wildcard overrun and a solid start to the new series, 9-1-1. The Sunday evening game was #1 on the week, with over 31.1 million viewers and a solid 9.2 rating. That is up from the previous year's game. The new Wednesday drama, 9-1-1, ranked 23rd, attracting 6.8 million viewers and posting a solid 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49. The positive sign for 9-1-1 was the growth out of the season premiere of THE X-FILES (#43). FOX only pushed 4 programs into the top 40, with THE OT and THE SIMPSONS joining the NFL game and 9-1-1.
CBS top ABC for third, on the back of original episodes from most of its regular series. The network has 16 shows in the top 30. ABC only had one top 30 program, with THE MIDDLE ranking 27th. Neither CBS or ABC had any special programming on the week to help boos the numbers.
