US Box Office Results: October 6 - 8, 2017
One of the more anticipated movie of the year opened below expectations, as BLADERUNNER 2049, collected just $31.5 million in its opening weekend. The sequel has had heavy promotion and hype of r most of the year and will be lucky to collect $100 million domestically. That is far below its $150 million production budget, let alone the promotional budget for the film.Also opening this weekend was the drama, THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US. The film took in $10.1 million and could gross back its $35 million production budget.
The only positive from the weekend was IT adding another $10 million to its total, now at $305 million, domestically. IT is now $28 million behind SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING to take the #4 spot of the year.
