Top 100 Primetime Cable: April 17 - 23, 2017

The NBA Playoffs first full week of play produced the seven most watched programs of the week and took 12 of the top 20 spots along with it. All 12 games drew at least three million viewers, and six drew over 3.5 million. The Pacers vs Cavs series was the only series to place two games within the top seven, and it was an easy sweep of the series, by Cleveland.

FOX News continues to do well, even without Bill O'Reilly. THE FACTOR was the top rated news program of the week, with the Monday and Wednesday editions topping all other news shows. Tucker Carlson, who will inherit the 8 PM slot, pushed his Monday through Thursday shows ahead of the surging RACHEL MADDOW SHOW, which had been very competitive against Carlson, head-to-head. We'll see if the new FOX News line up, which brings on THE FIVE at 9 PM, will hold up, going forward.

In reality TV, LOVE & HIP HOP: ATL leads all programs in the genre. The VH1 series drew 3.1 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49, topping most of the NBA games. THE REAL HOUSEWIVES, of the same city, was right behind, with 2.9 million viewers and a 1.3 demo rating and BASKETBALL WIVES at 2.6 million viewers.

As the weather warms up, scripted originals are not as dominate. The best showing comes from the WHEN CALLS THE HEART season finale, at #28, with 2.6 million viewers. Hallmark also has the second best scripted original with its Saturday movie, THE PERFECT CATCH, with 2.4 million viewers.
