Preliminary Ratings: Monday 01/23/2017
CBS and ABC split the Monday night leadership, as CBS draws the most viewers and tops the A25-54 demographic, while ABC is the best in the A18-34 and A18-49 demographics. FOX takes third place, over NBC and THE CW returns with new episodes of its two Monday night series.
THE BACHELOR was top dog in the demos, drawing mid-twos in the three reported categories. The reality series dominated in the younger, A18-34 demographic, but actually ties CBS in the 8 PM hour in the A25-54 demo. Week-to-week, THE BACHELOR is up a tenth of a point in the demos and viewership rose by 300k. QUANTICO returns to ABC, but on a new night, but hold onto less than half of its lead in audience. In the A18-34 demo, it is only 28% retention.
CBS has five of the top six most watched programs of the night and only THE BACHELOR beats any of the comedies and SCORPION in any category. Every series of the night is either up or even with last week's numbers.
THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE was fifth place in the A18-34 demographic, and lost to SUPERGIRL in the 8 PM hour. This should be the last season of the series as it is not attracting viewers. And that sad fact is killing TIMELESS, in the 10 PM slot. We'll see if it can survive another month without THE VOICE as the lead in.
The CW was back in swing with SUPER GIRL and JANE THE VIRGIN in new episodes. Both shows with near their fall averages, down slightly in a couple spots.
