Preliminary Ratings: Thursday 09/29/2016
It was a less then stellar Thursday night for ANY of the broadcast networks. ABC won the night, drawing under six million viewers and a 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49. Considering that there was no NFL game on CBS, that is a rather low number, for a win.
The night's top program was GREY'S ANTOMY, grabbing 8.3 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the A18-49 demo. That is almost double any other show of the night, in the A18-49 demographic. Unfortunately, for ABC, that includes its two other dramas on the night. NOTORIOUS dropped over 50% in the demos, from GREY'S, and neatly 4 million total viewers. I think we can expect ABC to make a move soon to remove NOTORIOUS, before the November sweeps, at the latest.
CBS and NBC battled it out for second place on the night, despite CBS being all repeats, in place of THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. CBS' encore comedies topped the all-new NBC comedies, at 8 PM, and tied CHICAGO MED at 9 PM, in the demos. THE BLACKLIST only beat an encore of BULL by 22% in the A18-49 demo and by total viewers by 1.5 million viewers.
FOX is in its usual fourth place, with ROSEWOOD, again, being the lowest rated new show of the night. PITCH continues to build upon its weak lead in, giving it hope for a life beyond the minimal episode commitment.
