Top 100 Primetime Cable: July 18 - 24, 2016

It was all about the Republican National Convention, last week, as FOX News and CNN take 18 of the top 20 spots of the chart, with their coverage of the four-day event. FOX News was, by farm the most watched source of convention news, taking the top 4 spots, including 9.7 million viewers for the coverage of Donald Trump's Acceptance speech. FOX News pushed all 12 hours of primetime coverage into the top 14 spots of this week's chart.

TNT was the only network to get an entertainment program within the top 20, with both RIZZOLI & ISLES (#15) and MAJOR CRIMES (#17). the two crime series averaged 3.9 million viewers, for its two hour, Monday night block. The next highest rated scripted show of the week was THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS, at #34.

Sports to a back seat to the convention, with only RAW and SMACKDOWN making the top 40. Both wrestling events series did well, especially SMACKDOWN on its new Tuesday Night time slot. The move puts SMACKDOWN's ratings on par with those from RAW.

We have to scroll down to #32 to find this week;s top reality program. LOVE & HIP HOP led the genre with 2.8 million viewers and a solid 1.4 demo rating. NAKED & AFRAID XL was second, at #40, with 2.2 million viewers.
