NBC sweeps the weekly ratings for June 27 - July 3, 2016. The network rose above the rest with is mix of US Olympic Trials coverage and summer hits like AMERICA'S GOT TALENT and AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR.
With eight hours of coverage, on six of the nights, US Olympic trails for swimming and track & field took seven spots in the top 35, including a top 10 showing for the Tuesday night swimming trials. The pre-olympic events made up one-third of NBC's schedule. NBC also had great performances from its summer hits, as AMERICA'S GOT TALENT was the week's #1 show and AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR came in 6th. of the 22 hours of programming for NBC, only an encore of ANW, on Sunday night, was the nett-work's only non-original programming.
ABC edged out CBS for the #2 spot of the week, thanks to its popular summer hit, THE BACHELORETTE (#4) and its new block of classic game shows. The Sunday game shows grabbed three spots in the top 15, with $100,000 PYRAMID doing the best at #5. New series GREATEST HITS had a decent start, ranking 21st, with 4.9 million viewers. Of the network's 22 hours of programming, only six hours were not new programming.
CBS had a bit of a deflated week, finishing third. The network still placed 13 shows within the top 30, but it severely lacks the big-hit like a BACHELORETTE or AMERICA'S GOT TALENT. BIG BROTHER did do decent numbers, placing 8th, 10th and 22nd on the chart. The season premiere of ZOO (#18) was decent, collecting 5.1 million viewers. The network's other original dramas are tanking, with BRAIN DEAD placing 50th and AMERICAN GOTHIC finishing 45th. Two burn off episode of ANGEL FROM HELL placed 71st and 72nd. CBS had six hours of new programming this week.
FOX finishes fourth, again, and failed to push a show into the top 30. MASTERCHEF was the best showing for FOX, placing 35th, with just four million viewers.
