Preliminary Ratings: Thursday 03/03/2016

ABC had the lone series premiere, with the debut of the new drama, THE FAMILY. Nicely tucked in between GREY'S ANATOMY and HTGAWM, THE FAMILY had a subpar beginning. Just 5.7 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the A18-49 demographic, placed it in third place for the hour. THE FAMILY also lost two million viewers (-26%) it dropped 32% of the demo rating from GREY'S ANATOMY. ABC did share the A18-34 demo with FOX.

FOX was #1 on the night, sweeping the categories, but AMERICAN IDOL did drop below a 2.0 in the A18-49 demographic for the first time this season. had CBS or ABC been at full strength, FOX could have easily been a third place network on the night.

CBS gave BIG BANG the night off, airing an encore episode with originals from the rest of the line up. The other three comedies and ELEMENTARY all pulled in numbers similar to recent episodes.

NBC will be the weakest network on the night over the next month, with THE BLACKLIST back on hiatus. NBC was 5th place in both the A18-34 and A18-49 demos, behind THE CW, and was barely 4th place in the A25-54. Any gains THE VOICE grabs in the season numbers for NBC will be held back by poor numbers on Thursday night.
