Final Broadcast Ratings: March 2, 2016
With AMERICAN IDOL gone from the night, CBS had a rather easy time winning the Wednesday night ratings, taking three of the four reported categories, including a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49. SURVIVOR and CRIMINAL MINDS were the top two most watched shows of the night and were in the top five in the demographic ratings. A special CSI: CYBER did little to hold the audience at 10 PM, losing about 30% from its lead in.
ABC gave us the first two episodes of the new sitcom, THE REAL O'NEALS. The 8:30 episode did well, grabbing a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49, holding 90% from its THE GOLDBERGS lead in. The 9:30 episode did not fair as well, holding only 73% of the demo from its MODERN FAMILY lead in. Both veteran comedies were up from last week's numbers.
The season finale of THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA was NBC's most watched program of the night, but it has been all of its run, it did little in the younger demographics. The series is considered to be on the bubble for renewal, but I could see another 13 episodes being ordered for mid-season.
FOX went from first on the night to fourth, with the exit of AMERICAN IDOL. ROSEWOOD pulled in poor numbers, ranking fourth in its 8 PM time slot. The freshman series was down 40% in the A18-49 demo, from its fall finale, back in early December. HELL'S KITCHEN felt the affects of a poor lead in, dropping 23% in the demo, week-to-week. The one positive thing for HK was growth out of ROSEWOOD in the A18-49 and A25-54 demographics.
