Final Broadcast Ratings: January 10, 2016
FOX takes its fourth night of the week, with over 70 minutes of overrun from the NFC Wild Card Game, on Sunday night. The game hauled in a strong 38.9 million viewers and a 12.1 rating in Adults 18-49. That is about 10 million more viewers than a compatible game, on CBS, last year. The rest of the night fell about as you expect with football as a lead in. THE SIMPSONS did very well, with a 3.6 rating in the A18-49 demo, while BORDERTOWN, starting at 9:50 PM, was closer to average ratings on the night.
NBC did well with its annual Golden Globes coverage. The Arrivals, from 7 to 8 PM, was second to the NFL game and the three hours ceremony was first from 8:30 on. In total, THE GOLDEN GLOBES collected 18.5 million viewers and a 5.5 rating in Adults 18-49. Unfortunately, that is down about 800,000 viewers and 0.3 points in the A18-49 demo, from the 2015 telecast.
CBS was a distant third place, with its regular Sunday line up intact. The three dramas pulled in nearly the exact demo numbers, but total viewership declined by 2.4 million viewers, from 8 to 11 PM.
ABC is not doing much to be competitive, sophomore series, GALAVANT, is pulling the poor ratings it did last year and two hours of QUANTICO encores did worse than that.
