  • FOX picks up one, renews another series
  • SHOWTIME renews two dramas
  • A little less AMERICAN IDOL
  • Steve Harvey gets another job.

HBO renews sophomore drama:
The just concluded season of THE LEFTOVERS brought a third, and final, season renewal of the series, from HBO.



A shorter AMERICAN IDOL:
In seasons past, AMERICAN IDOL would crown its champion near the end of May. This last season, the series will end about a month earlier, ending in April.



FOX renews summer series:
Five months after WAYWARD PINES ended its presumed only season, FOX has given the series an order for a second season.



SHOWTIME renews two series:
The two Showtime fall dramas, THE AFFAIR and HOMELAND, have been picked up for new seasons in 2016.



FOX picks up SHOTS FIRED:
FOX has picked up the new series, SHOTS FIRED, for a 2016 run. the series will focus on a racially charged shooting in a small Tennessee town. Sanaa Lathan is attached to star in the series.



Netflix orders more GRACE AND FRANKIE:
The Jane Fonda & Lilly Tomlin comedy, GRACE AND FRANKIE, will be back on Netflix for a third season.



Apple ends service that never began:
The long wanted, often predicted, live streaming video service, from Apple, has been scrapped. The company stated that it has suspended plans to launch a live streaming video service and will focus on direct sales from the app store.



New Miss Universe host named:
As if he wasn't busy enough with his hit game show and talk show, Steve Harvey was named as host of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant. The event will air on FOX, on December 20th.



ABC Family sets name change date:
On air, they have been promoting it all month, but ABC Family will officially become Freeform on January 12, 2016.
