US Box Office Results: November 27, 2015
The combination of Pixar and Dinosaurs was not enough to knock off the the latest HUNGER GAMES movie off the top spot. MOCKINGJAY Pt. 2 collected another 51.6 million viewer the weekend, bringing its 10 day domestic total to $198 million.
The latest Pixar movie, THE GOOD DINOSAUR brought in just $39 million over the three day weekend and $55.6 million since its opening, on Wednesday. This is the worst opening weekend of a Pixar film, this century, beating only the first three movie from Pixar, in the late 90s. The movie should have plenty of legs and reach $200 million, easily.
Another chapter in the ROCKY saga had a good first weekend, as CREED collected over $30 million over the weekend and $42.6 million since its Wednesday opening. It is the best opening for a film in the franchise, but the 8 film saga spans 40 years, with the last movie coming out in 2006.
The other major new release, VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN, released in over 2,700 theaters, managed just $3.4 million over its first five days of release. it ranked 12th for the weekend, bringing in about 50% less than BROOKLYN and SPOTLIGHT, which were in less than 900 theaters each.
