US Box Office Results: October 9 - 11, 2015
For the second week in a row, THE MARTION is the #1 movie in America. The sci-fi thriller took in another $37 million, nearly double that of the #2 movie, and brings its 10-day total to $109 million. That already tops its $108 million production budget.
The top new release, PAN, was a big disappointment, finishing in 3rd place, with just over $15 million. The re-re-telling of the Story of Peter Pan did not draw audiences in. One of two factors, or both, played a part in the low box office results. (1) There have been numerous movies on the subject in the past 15 years. (2) Made it Warner Brothers, it did not have that "Disney Magic" that audiences expect. The movie will fall way short of its $150 million budget.
