Amazon Inks Exclusive CBS Content Deal
Amazon.com Inc. on Thursday said it has agreed to a multi-year, multi-series content licensing deal with CBS Corp. That will make Prime Instant Video the exclusive home for three summer series through 2018. With the agreement, Prime members will be able to stream episodes of comic-thriller "BrainDead," from the producers of "The Good Wife," four days after it airs. The show will premiere next summer.
The deal builds upon the companies' existing agreement, which gives members the same access to CBS shows "Under the Dome" and "Extant." The deal also expands the CBS and Showtime titles offered to Prime members such as, "The Tudors," "The Amazing Race" and films such as "Inside Llewyn Davis."
The push for more, and exclusive content continues to intensify. Netflix Inc. recently announced deals with CBS for "Zoo" and "Jane the Virgin," USA Network for its show "Colony" and with ABC, owned by the Walt Disney Co. for Emmy award-winning show "How to Get Away with Murder."
